Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative -

Data & Evidence  Track

As the Director of the Bloomberg Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University, my role involved orchestrating the program design and service delivery for the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative - Data Track program. This comprehensive initiative integrates leadership training from Harvard faculty, practical technical assistance from data experts at the Bloomberg Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University (GovEx), and personalized coaching from former mayors and seasoned data experts.

Cities selected into the Data Track program undergo a transformative journey where they learn to harness data effectively. They acquire skills to set ambitious goals, enhance performance, monitor progress, and communicate outcomes in a manner that fosters effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and accountability to their residents.

Throughout the program, participating cities focus on leveraging data to drive decision-making, establishing robust performance management routines, and deepening their understanding of how data can amplify their city’s effectiveness and equity. They also develop refined communication strategies to articulate their city’s challenges and opportunities using compelling data-driven narratives.

During my tenure, I oversaw a dynamic portfolio comprising approximately 25 cities. To support these cities, I led a dedicated team of 25 professionals who provided direct coaching, technical assistance, and training as part of this multi-year initiative.
